Welcome
Sunset Inn is located in the remote village of Monkey River, Belize, lying on the coast of Southern Belize where the Monkey River flows into the Caribbean Sea. A visit to Monkey River Village is truly a unique experience. But bring your spirit of adventure...
Monkey River is the northernmost village in the Toledo District. Lying beyond the electric grid and phone lines, Monkey River Village is home to 200 residents, mostly fishermen, and some of the nicest and friendliest people you will meet! The entire village has one community center, one school, one church, two shops, two hotels, and two restaurants and bars.
Monkey River Village, so called for the large numbers of Black Howler Monkeys living in the area, is about 15 miles southwest of Placencia Village and is accessible only by boat. However, there is also an eight-mile road from the Southern Highway that ends across the river from the village. Park your car and honk, and a boat will come pick you up.
